2016 Rottnest Channel Swim

Bunbury Swimming Club Captain and Vice Captains Tahlia Jensen, Liam Williams and Raji Madigasekara, competed in the 26th Rottnest Channel Swim on Saturday. The 19.7km swim is regarded worldwide and one of Western Australia's iconic events. With a forecast top of 38 degrees, it's easy to see why there were thousands of supporters gathered at Cottesloe beach to see off a total of 2890 swimmers including 314 solos, 216 duos and 496 teams.

Following on from last year's 1st placed female duo with Taylor Williams, Tahlia (seen here covered in ?) swam solo this year and crossed the line in a time of 5:15:11. Finishing 3rd in her category and an overall position of 9th out of 251, it was an impressive swim, to say the least.

Liam and Raji swam for the first time in a team of 4 in a time of 5:55:03. Liam being the lead swimmer and Raji bringing the team home, they came a very respectful 13th out of 23 in their category and 67th out of 409 overall. A fantastic effort! Congratulations to our Bunbury Swimming Club swimmers for all the hard work you've put in, it is truly inspirational. Congrats must also go to the swimmer's support teams including parents and coaches. We look forward to hearing how you go in next years Rotto swim!
