Congratulations Team Bunbury

Congratulations to the 33 swimmers who travelled to Kalgoorlie on the weekend and helped the Club to win the A Grade Pennant at Country Pennants. We have ended the six year reign of Peel Aquatic Swimming Club and can now officially call ourselves the top country club in Western Australia!!

Each and every swimmer on the team performed exceptionally well in the pool and acted professionally outside of it and it showed in the results. You were focused, determined and so supportive of each other – exactly what a winning team needs to be! We are all very proud of the way in which you conducted yourselves over the weekend.

A massive thank you to the coaching team who have all worked so hard to prepare our swimmers for the meet. The Country Pennants team was comprised of swimmers from all of our training squads so all of our coaches have played a part in the team’s success on the weekend. Thank you to Chiffa, Stephen, Sean, Kim, Tracy, Tahlia, Courtney, Lara and Mickie for your hard work and support.

Besides winning the Relay Trophy and Overall A Grade Pennant, we also had a number of individual swimmers who really excelled over the weekend and a number of them were recognised during the final presentation ceremony.

Drew Coleman won an impressive 7 gold medals. He won the Boys 8 years and under 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 50m breaststroke individual events and was also

a member of 4 winning freestyle and medley relay teams.

Amy Duncan was awarded the Closest to State Record trophy for her swim in the Girls 12 years and under 50m freestyle.

Joshua Hunt, Kaiden Richings, Sam Ellis and Owen Cattaway combined to set a new meet record in the Boys 12 years and under medley relay and Courtney Lee also set a new meet record in the Women’s Open 100m Backstroke.

Seven of the Club’s Performance Squad swimmers were also recognised for achieving a Top 6 time at the meet. They were Jye Jensen, Tahlia Jensen, Ross Rann, Courtney Lee, Kyle Lee, Amity Parsons and Amy Duncan.

There were a number of new state qualifying times achieved and personal best times set too. Overall, we couldn’t have wished for a better result. WELL DONE EVERYONE – GREAT TEAM EFFORT!!
