SW Region 1 Development Camp

The South West Region 1 (SWR1) Development Squad camp held in Pemberton over the weekend was attended by nine of Bunbury’s Performance Squad swimmers – Ross Rann, Courtney Lee, Simona Vychytilova, Kyle Lee, Jye Jensen, Maddison Stewart, Amity Parsons, Sam Ellis and Daniel Coleman. The camp, which was run by Bunbury Head Coach Toni Moore and Performance Coach Nick ‘Chiffa’ Ciffolilli, was based at the Pemberton Camp School and included team building games, goal setting, outdoor physical challenges and a swim session. Another 20 swimmers and 3 coaches from around the region also participated in the camp. Swimmers selected in the SWR1 Development Squad must meet the following criteria during the previous season:

  • achieve a time equal to or greater than World Best Time plus 27% as set by Swimming WA;

  • achieve this time during the previous long course season (1st October through to April);

  • be aged 12 – 16 years;

  • demonstrate a commitment to region / country swimming.

Swimmers participating in this year’s SWR1 Development Squad camps met the above criteria during the 2015 / 2016 summer long course season. Next year’s SWR1 Development Squad is currently being considered based on the results from our most recent 2016 / 2017 summer long course season and will be announced at the South Region Carnival in November.
