We had a very successful weekend in the pool in Moora finishing second place in the A Grade Division at Country Pennants!
Much to everyone's excitement, we almost got up to win the Relays Trophy finishing only 7 points behind Peel Aquatic. In the final standings, Bunbury finished up 132 points behind Peel Aquatic and 233 points clear of third place team Exmouth. We can confidently say that Peel are on notice for next year!!
Our swimmers set 32 new Personal Best times (PBs) and several swimmers achieved new state qualifying times. We also snatched some thrilling victories in our team relays which left a few of the cheer squad without a voice by the end of the weekend.
The team stayed at St Gertrude's College in the middle of the New Norcia Benedictine Community owned and operated by a group of Roman Catholic Monks. This was an interesting cultural experience for everyone particularly the presentation given to us by one of the Monks.
Country Pennants takes an incredible amount of preparation (both in and out of the pool) but continues to be the most exciting and rewarding meet for the Club. Thank you to all involved and I am already looking forward to next year in Kalgoorlie.
