Our 42nd annual Bunbury Open Carnival on Sunday was an amazing success! Well done to all 56 swimmers that took part and represented the Club so well. We are very proud of your efforts and achievements.
New meet records were set by Kyle Lee and Tahlia Jensen in the Open 1500m freestyle, Kaiden Richings in the 11-12 yrs 100m backstroke and the team of Amy Duncan, Maddison Stewart, Alice Johnson and Rori Parsons set a new standard in the Girls 14 yrs and under freestyle relay. Well done!
Top points earners for the meet included Lexie Edwards (1st female overall with 3380 pts and 7 PBs), Georgia Saffy (2nd female overall with 2600 pts and 6 PBs), Tiare Crowder (4th female overall with 1760 pts and 7PBs) and Amy Duncan (5th female overall with 1730 pts and 6 PBs). These points are awarded based on how many personal best times the swimmer achieves AND how much they improve on their best times.
Overall, the team won 52 Gold, 25 Silver and 30 Bronze medals and set 149 new personal best times.Your fantastic results are testament to the commitment you have made to training and competition over the winter months and I encourage you to keep up the good work.
Thank you to all the Club coaches who helped to prepare our young swimmers for the Carnival which for many of them was their first official swim meet and was a very positive experience indeed!
