Five of our Senior Performance athletes, Kyle, Max, Amy, Jye and Kaiden recently had their hard work rewarded by qualifying for the Hancock Prospecting Australian Age Championships. The meet was held in Adelaide during the school holidays and saw the very best young swimmers in the country compete. Kyle swam six events, while Amy took on the two breaststroke distances, and Kaiden swam the gruelling 400IM. Unfortunately Max was too sick to travel to Adelaide to compete in his four events, and Jye became unwell while at the meet and was unable to swim. Those who were able to take to the water had some really great results. Kaiden swam strongly in the 400IM to claim a top 40 finish. Amy swam a solid 200m Breaststroke before a big PB in the 100m Breaststroke saw her finish 14th overall and miss the final by less than a second. Kyle swam personal best times in almost all of his events and made four finals. Kyle’s fast finish in the 800m Freestyle earned him fourth place before an amazing 13-second PB in the 1500m Freestyle saw him win bronze - his first national medal in the pool and a very special achievement. Congratulations to our athletes for their excellent results and the supportive and respectful manner in which they conducted themselves during their time in Adelaide.
