Junior Swimmers Excel at States


We are very proud of the Bunbury team that competed at the Hancock Prospecting Junior Long Course State Championships in Perth recently. Over 500 competitors from 50 clubs took part in the annual event for the top swimmers in Western Australia aged 8 to 12 years. Joel Davies had a very successful meet winning silver in the Boys 11 years 50m breaststroke and 200m breaststroke and bronze in the 50m backstroke and 200m individual medley. He also finished with another 4 top 8 placings and eleven personal best times overall. Alex Saffy won bronze in the Boys 12 years 200m butterfly event and finished the meet with 4 new personal best times. Amy Kerr won bronze in the Girls 12 years 100m breaststroke and also finished a close 4th in the 50m breaststroke and 6th in the 200m breaststroke. Other Top 10 performances included Chayse Parsons finishing 5th in the Boys 10 years 50m breaststroke and 10th in the 50m backstroke, 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle. Jye Davies finished 7th in the Boys 9 years 50m freestyle. Other swimmers to perform very well at the meet included Ingrid Blandford, Drew Coleman, Ariane Diggins, Yulana Horrobin, Jorja Horsfall, Max Sharp and Ruby-Anne Stokes. Overall the team set a total of 42 new personal best times which is a fantastic result.
